India
has been known as the original home of sugar and sugarcane. Indian
mythology supports the above fact as it contains legends showing the
origin of sugarcane. India is the second largest producer of
sugarcane next to brazil. Presently, about 4 million hectares of land
is under sugarcane with an average yield of 70 tonnes per hectare. In
brazil , out of the total available , 45% goes for sugar production and
55% for the production of ethanol directly from sugarcane juice.
This gives the industry in Brazil an additional flexibility to
adjust its sugar production keeping in view the sugar price in
the international market as nearly 40% of the sugar output is exported.
This could be a perfect solution for ongoing odds of excess production
being faced by Asian industry.
The
annual projected growth rate in the area under sugarcane at
1.5% per annum has doubled in the last five years. This is
because it is considered to be an assurred cash crop
with the good returns to the farmers vis-a-vis other competing crops.
In
view of this the future of this segment is full
of opportunity and threats, hence Nexgen Exhibitions
Pvt Ltd (AN ISO 9001:2000 company) presents an exclusive and
dedicated exhibition on sugar, Co-generation , Ethanol and Cane
harvesting , thus SUGARASIA is to showcase A to Z
Sugar and downstream industries.
